One of the biggest advantages of the APR K04 turbocharger system is its simple yet elegant design. APR's CNC machined direct compressor recirculation port on the OEM compressor cover dramatically reduces engine bay clutter and saves the end user the hidden costs of purchasing hoses, pipes, clamps and brackets Additional DVs for boost pressure recirculation. The compact design also eliminates the bulk of extra charge piping to allow ultra-fast boost response and fewer locations for boost leaks. Additionally, boost air pressure is directed directly to the compressor wheel, which helps maintain turbo spool up when lifting off the throttle, minimizing turbo lag. The OEM k04 turbocharger features a turbo muffler designed to reduce turbocharger noise in the cabin, which also creates a restriction in the flow of boost pressure. APR removes the turbo muffler to not only improve the sound of the turbocharger, but also to smooth airflow through the previously baffled muffler section. It also eliminates the need to purchase an OEM S3 turbo wastegate. A clean and simple CNC flange developed by APR's engineering team is bolted directly to the supercharger cover in place of the OEM turbo muffler. A long mounting surface provides an excellent non-slip surface for mounting the silicone discharge hose and an O-ring between the flanges ensures a lifetime of leak-proof operation.
